Difficulties began, however, when the landlord started imposing stringent stipulations on our client, insisting that an existing MF suspended ceiling remain insitu and preventing any fixing into the underside of the existing first floor slab.
We always look to protect our clients’ interests, and we advised them that these requests were peculiar and untypical, while exploring cost effective solutions for the client through engagement with a structural engineer. We were keen to ensure that our clients didn’t accept what wouldn’t have been right for them and advised them accordingly.
Despite finding a solution that exceeded the expectations of our client and their contractor, the client decided to walk away from the deal after being pushed to compromise even further. While the outcome was frustrating, our client was then free to a much better way to achieve the change they were looking for. Now they could find the perfect site that wouldn’t be a compromise.
