Our clients Iain and Sonia have lived next to woodlands with their three children for years. They fell in love with the location for the dappled sunlight that falls through the trees across their garden, and the rustling of leaves carried on an autumn breeze. This is the sort of place you grow into, not move away from.
Iain and Sonia approached us to help convert their loft and extend their ground floor. Their youngest son still lives at home and will soon be negotiating exams and readying himself for university. So, they want to give him a new bedroom suite in the converted loft while also extending the ground floor to create indoor/outdoor living accommodation.
They are keen to blur the lines between indoors and outdoors and to increase the sense of tranquillity by inviting the woodland into their home.
Our concept plays with the movement of light and shadows through the trees. We have animated the interior with light and shade that will change throughout the day. We’ve also created a covered outdoor dining area with space for a fire pit.
Iain and Sonia have a passion for design and architecture, and they are regular readers of architecture and interior design magazines. Their enthusiasm is a welcome push to create something a little different to your typical extension and we’re looking forward to moving the project through the design phase to planning.
